Dear busy, overwhelmed business owner,
Are you seeing what I’m seeing?
Everywhere we look we’re told that if we want to succeed we should get up at 5am and work all the hours.
That if we’re not willing to hustle, we must not want it badly enough.
I respectfully disagree.
What about those of us who enjoy getting outside to breathe in the air? Who feel motivated when we play our favourite music or who might want to cosy up under a blanket and take a nap in the middle of the afternoon?
If you want to enjoy those things, does that make you any less driven? Any less serious about your business? Any less likely to succeed?
I don’t think so.
Yes, there are some experts who’ll encourage you to hustle, hustle, hustle and fill every available minute with more ‘doing’. If that’s your jam and is making you happy, all power to you. But let’s stop believing that it’s the only way to do things.
There are ways to get stuff done that will still allow you the time and space to relax and have fun. To walk away from your work at the end of the day feeling good about what you’ve achieved so that you can be fully present with your loved ones and enjoy your evening.
Running a business is hard work. Your down time (and yes, you are allowed down time) shouldn’t be spent feeling guilty or in recovery mode.
So it’s not all about the hustle.
You could also choose ease.
P.S. Please share with other business owners who need to hear this today.
P.P.S. If you need more convincing, I was recently able to take a day off and enjoy an ice cream in the sunshine whilst still serving my VA clients, creating a new productivity mentoring package and getting ready to launch a new online course.
You don’t have to hustle to get stuff done and grow your business.
That there cheesy grin is living proof!
